virat kohli fit to replace Rahul Dravid at no3

Virat Kohli fit to be No. 3 but nobody can replace Rahul Dravid: Anil Kumble

New Delhi: Former captain Anil Kumble reckons that Virat Kohli has the "right game" to fit in at the crucial number 3 slot in the Indian Test team even though it will be impossible for anyone to step into Rahul Dravid's shoes. (Read: How Anil Kumble tamed Virat Kohli)

"I have followed Virat closely since his India U-19 days and he has matured a lot. I am impressed in the manner he has improved in the past one year in terms of game, discipline and overall fitness", Kumble said.

"He has quickly adapted to rigours of international cricket and for a 23-year-old to do that is phenomenal. He has a Test hundred in Australia and I believe he has the right game to fit in at No 3," the former Indian captain said in an interview on Thursday.

"However, there is no one who can replace Rahul Dravid. He has been an achiever for past 16 years and it's certainly not easy to score 23,000 international runs," Kumble added.

Kumble paid glowing tributes to Sachin Tendulkar for achieving the historic feat of scoring 100 international centuries, saying he could quickly adapt to different conditions which was the hallmark of a great player.

"I have been a witness to 80 of those 100 hundreds and atleast on 20 occasions, I have been at the other end. I would invariably arrive when he would be in his 80's and the second new-ball would be due. My job on each and every occasion was to ensure that I don't give my wicket easily which would help him to get his hundred."

Tendulkar after completing his 100th ton had recollected a funny incident during his highest Test score of 248 in Bangladesh involving him and Kumble when both had some horrible mix-ups.

"Don't talk about it. I still get embarrassed when I watch the footages of that match," he smiled.

"Thankfully, the players during international matches at home are released to play Ranji Trophy. That's how likes of Ajinkya (Rahane) and Rohit (Sharma) got to play for Mumbai."

Kumble was reluctant to about his brief one-year stint as the chairman of National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He resigned from the post in December last year.

"I don't want to talk about that phase. I wanted to do a few things but we were not on the same page but NCA has done a lot of good for Indian cricket. It's because of NCA that we have brilliant fielders like Virat, Suresh Raina, Manoj Tiwary to name a few."

The BCCI wants Ranji Trophy matches to be played at neutral venues but Kumble for one wants cricket to be shifted to smaller centres which will produce good competitive wickets.

"Recently during a one-day match Goa and Karnataka, I entered the stadium at around 11:30 and saw 55 for two on board. I thought match must have started late and then realised it was over. Just because it was a bit more challenging surface, batsmen couldn't cope with it.

"Now if you produce a turning track and match is over within two days, people raise questions. But what about the batsmen's ability to face quality spinners on turning tracks," he concluded.

Tribute to Sachin Tendulkar-From Virat kohli

Kohli pays tribute to Sachin – Cricket News Update
Following his heroics against arch-rivals Pakistan, India’s Virat Kohli expressed his gratitude towards his role model and senior teammate Sachin Tendulkar.
Kohli gave a heartening tribute to the Little Master, which was published in a newspaper, DNA, where he recalled his young days, watching Tendulkar and idolizing his batting style. Also he shared moments of his past where he used to wait like an ordinary fan to get a glimpse of the world’s greatest batsmen.
Despite becoming the latest sensation, Kohli fondly remembered such memories and claimed that it was his senior teammate, who was a source of inspiration and watching the Little genius play further encouraged him to follow his foot steps and represent his country.
“Dear Sachin Paaji, You have a million fans and I am one of them. In fact, I started playing cricket because of you. Simply watching you play motivated me,” wrote Kohli in his letter to the Master Blaster.
Kohli further mentioned his excitement on an occasion when Sachin visited the U-19 team camp, which was preparing to leave for New Zealand, and spurred everyone to perform well on the tour.
The 23-year-old was further left to cherish his current state in the national team, where he stated that the journey has been emotional before admitting that his career has rocketed mainly due to the advice given bySachin.
Indeed Virat’s ability to bat aggressively has made him one of the most outstanding talents to come out ofIndia in recent times.  That notion is evident from his whirlwind outings, where he scored 3 centuries from his last four innings.
“People crave to shake hands with you, get your autographs, have a picture clicked and here I am so abundantly lucky to be sharing a dressing room with you. To get to know you personally has been a huge honour,” said Kohli.
At the end, Virat lauded his idol’s amazing hallmark achievement of 100 tons and admired his patience throughout the last 12 months, which was painstakingly tough due to the weight of undue expectations from all corners.
"You had once told me during our 75-run stand during an ODI in Nagpur that I must follow my instincts. I am doing just that and the results are showing” concluded the new appointed vice captain.

Bank of Greece sees deep recession in 2012

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — The Bank of Greece is predicting that the Greek economy will contract by 4.5 percent in 2012 and remain in mild recession next year.
In its annual report issued Monday, the central bank also predicted that unemployment would remain above 19 percent this year.
The gloomy predictions were made despite the coalition government successfully negotiating financial rescue deals with both its private creditors and emergency lenders from the eurozone and International Monetary Fund.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.
ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos will submit his official resignation on Monday after being elected to head the majority Socialist party as Greece heads into early general elections.
Venizelos was the only candidate for the leadership of the PASOK party in Sunday's elections, and is to formally take over from his predecessor, former Prime Minister George Papandreou, later in the day.
Venizelos has been at the heart of months-long negotiations that resulted in a massive second bailout for Greece and a debt writedown deal with private creditors.
"We have the elections ahead of us and I had the opportunity this morning at a farewell meeting at the finance ministry ... to give my final instructions," Venizelos said after meeting with the country's president, Karolos Papoulias, to inform him of the party election results.
The coalition government has not indicated who will be appointed in Venizelos' place. Early general elections are expected in late April or early May, though no firm date has been set.
PASOK won a landslide victory in 2009 general elections, but party defections and public anger over austerity measures prompted it to form an interim coalition government with the rival conservatives last November.
Recent opinion polls have seen its support sink to as low as 11 percent, taking a hit from widespread public anger over repeated austerity measures which have included salary and pension cuts as well as several rounds of tax hikes.
Unions have held frequent strikes and often violent demonstrations in response. In the latest labor action, dock workers walked off the job Monday at the start of what they have vowed will be rolling 48-hour strikes. Farmers on islands have argued the strike will leave them facing huge losses as they will be unable to transport their produce to the main urban markets on the mainland.
Sporadic instances of violence have also occurred. Police arrested a man armed who had stormed into a tax office in the Greek capital with a shotgun and fired a shot Monday morning. Police said nobody was injured in the shooting. The man's motives were not immediately clear.
Meanwhile, holders of insurance on Greek bonds are to learn how much they will earn from the country's bond swap deal, agreed this month with private creditors to lower the nation's debt load.
So-called credit default swaps, or CDS, act as insurance for holders of bonds in case of default. An international finance body has ruled that Greece's bond swap will trigger these CDS payouts and has estimated their total value at around $3.2 billion.
The actual amount paid out to CDS holders, however, will be somewhat less — analysts estimate around $2.5 billion — since the country is not defaulting on the full value of its bonds. Investors are taking real losses of about 75 percent of their bondholdings.
The size of the CDS payout will be determined Monday in an auction in which a panel of financial firms estimates the size of the losses on the Greek bonds.

DC++

DC++ is a free and open-source, peer-to-peer file-sharing client that can be used to connect to the Direct Connect network or to the ADC protocol. It is developed primarily by Jacek Sieka, nicknamed arnetheduck.
As of 2008, DC++ had around 90% market share of the Direct Connect community.[1]
DC++ is a free and open-source alternative to the original client, NeoModus Direct Connect (NMDC); it connects to the same file-sharing network and supports the same file-sharing protocol. One of the reasons commonly attributed to the aforementioned popularity of DC++ is that it has no adware of any kind, unlike NMDC.[2]
Many other clients exist for the Direct Connect network, and most of these are DC++ "mods": modified versions of DC++, based on DC++'s source code. A partial list of DC++ mods is given below. Some of these clients were developed for specialized communities (e.g. music-sharing communities), or in order to support specific experimental features, or perhaps features that have been rejected from inclusion in DC++ itself. An example of an experimental feature is hashing, which was initially implemented in BCDC++ and later adopted by DC++.

english

The English language, which takes its name from its origins as the native tongue of the people of England, is today the most widely spoken language in the world.[5] It is spoken as a first language by a majority of the inhabitants of several nations, including the United Kingdom, theUnited States, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. It is the third most commonly spoken language in the world in terms of native speakers, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.[6] It is widely learned as a second language and used as an official language of the European Union and many Commonwealth countries, as well as in many world organisations.
English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was to become south-eastScotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval kingdom of Northumbria. Following the extensive influence of Great Britain and the United Kingdom from the 18th century, via the British Empire, and of the United States since the mid-20th century,[7][8][9][10] it has been widely dispersed around the world, becoming the leading language of international discourse and the lingua franca in many regions.[11][12]
Historically, English originated from the fusion of closely related dialects, now collectively termed Old English, which were brought to the eastern coast of Great Britain by Germanic (Anglo-Saxon) settlers by the 5th century – with the word English being derived from the name of the Angles, and ultimately from their ancestral region of Angeln (in what is now Schleswig-Holstein).[13] A significant number of English words are constructed based on roots from Latin, because Latin in some form was the lingua franca of the Christian Church and of European intellectual life.[14] The language was further influenced by the Old Norse language due to Viking invasions in the 8th and 9th centuries.
The Norman conquest of England in the 11th century gave rise to heavy borrowings from Norman-French, and vocabulary and spelling conventions began to give the superficial appearance of a close relationship with Romance languages[15][16] to what had then become Middle English. The Great Vowel Shift that began in the south of England in the 15th century is one of the historical events that mark the emergence ofModern English from Middle English.
Owing to the assimilation of words from many other languages throughout history, modern English contains a very large vocabulary. Modern English has not only assimilated words from other European languages but also from all over the world, including words of Hindi and Africanorigin. The Oxford English Dictionary lists over 250,000 distinct words, not including many technical, scientific, or slang terms.[17][18]
